Koprivnički bedemi, ostaci nekadašnje velebne, renesansne protuturske utvrde, nijemi su i mistični svjedok davno minulog vremena. Kriju li oni neku zanimljivu tajnu, priču o nesretnoj ljubavi ili hrabrosti svojih branitelja, mogu li nam pokazati kako su stvarali, ratovali, slavili i trgovali žitelji stare Koprivnice, nastojat će vam predočiti Renesansni festival. Ova turističko-povijesna, ekološka i edukativna manifestacija je najveći spektakl živih slika iz prošlosti u ovom dijelu Europe, a svoje uporište ima u povijesnim faktima. Glavna tema vratit će vas u davna i okrutna vremena kada su razne vrste torture bile uobičajene,što ćete doživjeti na edukativan i interaktivan način, a sam događaj počinje uprizorenjem dolaska kralja Ludovika Anžuvinca 1356. g. i uručivanjem Povelje slobodnog kraljevskog grada Gradskom "sodcu" (gradonačelniku).
Herman II. Celjski, vlasnik Kamengrada i Koprivnice u 15. st., obilježit će to razdoblje. Ipak, većina sadržaja biti će vezana uz 16. st. kada su i nastale renesansne fortifikacije. Osim u scenskim prikazima srednjovjekovnog života, viteštva, glazbe, plesa, lakrdijaštva, posjetitelji će moći uživati i u okusima srednjovjekovnih jela koja će na licu mjesta spravljati "Kraljevski kuhari" vrhunskog Podravkinog tima, i to po izvornim receptima iz davno prohujalog razdoblja kada se još nije znalo za namirnice poput krumpira, rajčice, kukuruza, puretine i dr., a posluživati će ih na način koji je bio uobičajen prije pola tisućljeća.
Uz mesna jela od kopuna, vepra, divljači, naći će se i delicije od koprive, naoko neugledne biljke kojoj Koprivnica duguje svoje ime. Kao i nekad, žeđ će utažiti vinska kapljica s obližnjih vinograda, staro hrvatsko piće medovina, koje će posluživati domaći medičari, Kraljevski Pan i pivo od koprive koja su nastavak višestoljetne tradicije pivarstva u Koprivnici, kao i neobična pića od koprive. Dođite i otkrijte nepoznat ili zaboravljen život koji pamte ostaci naših bedema iz doba mističnog i mračnog, ali i romantičnog, davno minulog vremena kasnog Srednjeg vijeka uz glavnu temu - TORTURA.
Sve navedeno će Vam nastojati dočarati više od 1 300 kostimiranih sudionika iz desetak europskih zemalja.

Koprivnica’s fortress walls, the remains of what used to be a magnificent, renaissance anti-Turkish fortress, represent a silent witness of a time long past. Are they hiding an interesting secret or a story about a broken love or perhaps about the courage of their protectors and can they give us a picture of how the residents of feudal Koprivnica used to create, make war, celebrate or carry on trade? This will be demonstrated by the Renaissance festival. This tourist-historical, ecological and educational event is the greatest spectacle of live images from the past in this part of Europe, based on historical facts. The main topic will bring you back to ancient and cruel times when various types of torture were common, which you will experience on an educational and interactive way. The event will be opened by the arrival of the King Louis I of Hungary from 1356 on which occasion the mayor will be presented with a Charter of a free royal town. Long-past 15th century will be marked by Hermann II, Count of Celje, the owner of Kamengrad and Koprivnica at that time. However, the program will mostly be focused on the 16th century, when the renaissance fortifications were actually built. Visitors will not only be able to enjoy the staged scenes of medieval life, chivalry, music, dance but also the taste of medieval dishes prepared on the spot by the »Royal chefs« of Podravka’s top team according to the original recipes from the long-gone period when a great deal of groceries (potato, tomato, corn, turkey etc.) was mostly unknown, and will be served in a way common half a millennium ago. Along with the meat dishes, delicacies made from nettle, insignificantly-looking plant, to which Koprivnica owes its name, will be presented. As in old days, thirst will be quenched with wines from the nearby vineyards, old Croatian mead served by the local mead makers, as well as »Royal Pan« and nettle beer, a continuation of a centuries-old tradition of brewing in Koprivnica, and unusual nettle beverages. Come and discover the unknown or forgotten way of life remembered by the remains of our walls from the times of mystical and dark, yet romantic long-past late Middle ages, with main topic – TORTURE.
